Must I be a member of AAEM to become a member of the India Chapter Division of AAEM?

No, membership in the India Chapter Division is separate from membership in AAEM. To become an AAEM member, please visit the AAEM website or call (800) 884-2236.

I am a member of the India Chapter Division of AAEM, but I am not a member of AAEM. Can I use the FAAEM designation?

No. Only full voting members of AAEM may use the FAAEM designation.

Must I be from India to become a member of the India Chapter Division of AAEM?

No, membership is open to all individuals interested in the goals and objectives of India Chapter Division of AAEM regardless of race, creed, gender, profession, or nationality.

I am board certified in emergency medicine, but my country does not have ABEM, AOBEM, ABP or RCPSC. Can I still become a member of the India Chapter Division of AAEM?

Yes. Physicians may join the India Chapter Division of AAEM as long as they are board certified in emergency medicine by an EM board from their country.

What is an International member?

International members of the India Chapter Division of AAEM must be physicians outside of the United States and Canada who have the ability to practice emergency medicine in another country, and are eligible to vote only if they are board certified in emergency medicine by ABEM, AOBEM, or RCPSC or are board certified in pediatric emergency medicine by ABEM or ABP, or an EM board from their country.

I am an International member of the India Chapter Division of AAEM – can I vote in India Chapter Division elections?

Yes. International members of the India Chapter Division have full voting rights in Chapter Division elections, as long as they are board certified in emergency medicine by ABEM, AOBEM, or RCPSC or are board certified in pediatric emergency medicine by ABEM or ABP, or an EM board from their country.

I am an international member of the India Chapter Division of AAEM – can I vote in AAEM elections?

No. International members of the India Chapter Division do not have voting rights in AAEM elections.

What is a Lifetime Voting member?

Lifetime members are members who obtained a lifetime membership prior to August 1, 2016, by paying a one-time fee and were approved by the Board of Directors. Lifetime members are eligible to vote if they are board certified in emergency medicine by ABEM, AOBEM, or RCPSC or are board certified in pediatric emergency medicine by ABEM or ABP, or an EM board from their country.

Can I become a Lifetime Voting member?

No. The Lifetime membership is no longer available after August 1, 2016, but lifetime membership will remain in effect with those who paid lifetime dues until the member resigns or is deceased.
