Full Voting/Fellow

Dues: $595/year

Eligibility: Certification in Emergency Medicine or Pediatric Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM), the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine (AOBEM), or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)

Details: All Full Voting members are Fellows of AAEM and may use the FAAEM designation. Includes full voting rights and eligibility for leadership positions.

Discounts:

  • Full Voting Active Duty Military Discount: 25% off AAEM membership dues for the current year
  • Full Voting Multi-Year Renewal Discount: 5% off AAEM membership dues when 3+ years of dues are purchased in advance
Associate

Dues: $295/year

Eligibility: Completion of an Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) residency program or an American Osteopathic Association (AOA) residency program (prior to 2019) and not yet board certified by ABEM or AOBEM

Details: Associate members are automatically enrolled in the Young Physicians Section (YPS). They are entitled to all AAEM benefits and may vote only for the YPS member director.

Discounts:

  • Associate Member New Grad Discount: $100 discount on AAEM dues for physicians whose residency graduation date is within 13 months of the current date.
Fellow-in-Training

Dues: $95/year

Eligibility: Graduation from an Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA)–approved emergency medicine residency program and current enrollment in a fellowship program.

Details: Fellow-in-Training members hold dual membership in AAEM and the Young Physicians Section (YPS). They are entitled to all AAEM benefits and may vote for the YPS member director.

International

Dues: $195/year

Eligibility: Physicians with an interest in emergency medicine who practice outside of the United States or Canada.

Details: International members are entitled to all AAEM benefits but do not have voting rights.

Emeritus

Dues: $295/year

Eligibility: Any Full Voting member who has practiced emergency medicine for thirty or more years, or is at least 65 years of age, and has been a Full Voting member for a minimum of ten years. Members meeting these requirements must specifically request in writing transfer to Emeritus status.

Details: Emeritus members retain full voting rights and eligibility to hold office. They may continue using the FAAEM designation as long as they meet the criteria of a Full Voting member.

Residents & Medical Students

Membership for residents and medical students is offered through the AAEM Resident and Student Association (AAEM/RSA), which provides mentorship, leadership opportunities, clinical resources, and a dedicated community for trainees.
