When: Monday, April 13, 2026, from 10:25am – 11:40am PT
The Annual CCMS-AAEM Breviloquent Competition provides an opportunity for five junior speakers interested in the emerging field of emergency medicine critical care to present on a national stage. The competition format consists of a 7-minute presentation (Breve) accompanied by fewer than 20 slides.
The theme of this year’s competition is “A Memorable Case Experienced in the ICU.” Cases from Medical, Surgical, Trauma, Neuro, or Cardiac ICUs will be accepted. Please provide a brief summary of the case and describe why it was memorable or impactful to your practice or education. Explain how the experience influenced your clinical approach or shaped your practice moving forward.
Clinical experience cases related to an ICU setting are preferred. Submissions will be reviewed and ranked based on their relevance to emergency medicine critical care and the impact on your overall education and/or practice. Medical students, residents, and first-year fellows must have a critical care–trained mentor to assist in developing their presentation.
