Course Description

Even though Emergency physicians are at the forefront of the care of toxicological emergencies, they may not have immediate access to support from a bedside medical toxicology consultation.

Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the course, each participant should be able to:

  1. Discuss the evaluation of common toxicological emergencies.
  2. Describe poisoning from natural toxins.
  3. Discuss the management of critical poisonings.
  4. List 5 antidotes that should be available in every emergency department.

Target Audience

Emergency physicians, nurses, pharmacists, toxicologists, residents-in-training and medical students
