Nominated by Michael Silverman, MD FAAEM FACP

Candidate Platform Statement
My name is Kathryn (Kari) Kirsch, and I am an attending physician and the Director of Simulation for the Emergency Medicine residency at Morristown Medical Center. I also work per diem at RWJUH at Rahway Hospital. I completed my residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia in 2016, and I have been an active member of AAEM since then, including participating in the Oral Board Review Course and several Annual Scientific Assemblies. I believe strongly in the principles of AAEM, and I would like to serve as the DVAAEM NJ President to help expand AAEM membership and participation in our state. I would like to encourage increased communication between the many teaching programs in New Jersey to ensure that our residents understand the value of AAEM and know the resources available to them throughout their careers. I look forward to giving back to this outstanding organization and building stronger connections within the state and the region as your next DVAAEM NJ President.

Thank you!
Kari Kirsch

At-Large Director – New Jersey

Candidate: Emily Bakosi, DO

Nominated by Kathryn (Kari) Kirsch, MD FAAEM

Candidate Platform Statement
I am a graduate of Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. I completed my emergency medicine residency at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ.  While at RWJ, I was particularly interested in paramedic training and did several lectures on toxicology topics to local paramedic classes.  Since graduating residency, I have worked at Clara Maass Medical Center, a busy community hospital in Belleville, NJ.  While at Clara Maass I have been involved in Physician Assistant ongoing education through organized lectures. I feel this position will be an opportunity to take a more active role in the educational aspects of DVAAEM.

Thank you!
Emily Bakosi

President – Pennsylvania

Candidate: Katrina Kissman, MD FAAEM

Candidate Platform Statement
Please consider voting for me as DVAAEM President. I have been a member of AAEM/DVAAEM since 2011 and have benefited greatly from education, leadership, and camaraderie. I would like to contribute back to those who have provided me so much in my personal and professional development. I would seek to advocate for DVAAEM members on local and regional platforms to support job security, physician autonomy, and education.

At-Large Director – Pennsylvania

Candidate: Molly Mulflur, MD FAAEM

Nominated by Katrina Kissman, MD FAAEM

Nomination Statement
Dr. Mulflur is an outstanding leader, educator, and mentor. I have known Dr. Mulflur for eight years in both a personal and professional capacity and she has proved herself to be honest, dependable, hard-working, and innovative. She developed the Program of Emergency Ultrasound at Aria (now Jefferson Northeast) and will be moving into the position of Program Director at St. Luke's - Anderson Campus. Dr. Mulflur has acted as a mentor for medical students, residents, and junior faculty -- educating them, guiding them, and advocating for them. Her enthusiasm and talent would help DVAAEM find solutions with fresh eyes and possibly move into new forefronts.

Katrina Kissman

Candidate Platform Statement
As a long-time advocate for resident education, I would like to see greater collaboration between the residencies in the PA/NJ/Delaware area. I would also like to raise awareness of issues plaguing EM physicians including loss of practice autonomy, encroachment on practice by non-physician groups, burnout, the rise of non-patient-centered metrics, needless litigation, long term health risks of shift work, and the abuse of emergency services due to poor access to primary care. I have been a member of DVAAEM since residency and would be honored to be considered for the position of DVAAEM Director of the Pennsylvania area.

Molly Mulflur
