Roger A. Mitchell, Jr. MD

On the Frontlines: Understanding Violence in America

Dr. Roger Mitchell Jr. is board certified in Anatomic and Forensic Pathology by the American Board of Pathology and a Fellow with the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME).

He is a graduate of Howard University, Washington D.C., and New Jersey Medical School, Newark, NJ. Dr. Mitchell is licensed to practice medicine in Washington D.C. He has performed over 1,300 autopsy examinations in his career and has testified as an expert on numerous cases.

As the Chief Medical Examiner of a major city, Dr. Mitchell is uniquely positioned to understand the social determinants that lead to the violence affecting our most vulnerable communities.

Dr. Mitchell's keynote presentation will break down the barriers and highlight the principles surrounding violence as a public health issue and the role of social determinants in violence prevention. He will specifically address the vital role that emergency physicians serve in violence prevention.
