State Chapters
FLAAEM Update
Florida Chapter
Focusing on Recruitment
by Joel Stern, MD FAAEM
The FLAAEM Board of Directors held a conference call on
April 24. A membership committee was formed to increase our membership.
We are now recruiting members outside of AAEM, including Florida ACEP
members. Our efforts to involve the three in-state residency programs
are ongoing. Any doctors involved with these teaching programs are encouraged
to contact FLAAEM. We would like more feedback on how to best assist the
residents in our state.
We are also concentrating our efforts on developing a website,
in conjunction with AAEM. We hope to soon have an online application which
can be easily downloaded and completed.
Another priority is promoting the ownership of hospital
contracts by democratic physician groups. We are in the process of developing
some marketing literature for distribution to hospital CEOs in the state.
We would also invite any physicians who are interested in forming a democratic
group to contact FLAAEM.
Any FLAAEM members who are interested in working on a committee
should contact FLAAEM ASAP. There is strength in numbers and the more
people we can have working on any particular project, the better. We are
also interested in hearing from our members as to what you think our priorities
should be. Any and all suggestions will be entertained. We will be holding
a Board of Directors meeting in the near future. The time and place will
be announced to all members and all members and other interested parties
will be invited to attend and be heard.
