| Candidate's Statement: |
Practicing medicine in the emergency department in both Canada
and the United States, I have a gained a unique perspective on the
delivery of health care. Specifically, I have come to value the
principle of universal access to care - a value that emergency physicians
are on the front lines to protect. I am also committed to the fair
reimbursement of physicians for services rendered to those with
insufficient medical insurance.
I have a full time academic position in the emergency medicine
residency office at USC and I have been playing an increasingly
active role at the medical school level as well. Through my interaction
with students and residents, I have been working to increase awareness
of our specialty and the principles that we strive to uphold.
Although I have kept a low profile politically, I have some skills
as a negotiator and activist from residency and I am eager to accept
the challenge to represent my fellow AAEM members.
I would be honored to serve on the Board of California AAEM, an
organization that is truly committed to its principles as well as
to its members.
