Journal of Emergency Medicine
Second AAEM Associate Editor
Named
Raymond J. Roberge, MD MPH FAAEM, has been named an Associate Editor
to The Journal of Emergency Medicine, the second AAEM member so
named by the AAEM Board of Directors. Dr. Roberge will join Jonathan N.
Adler, MD FAAEM, in reviewing articles and contributing editorial material
for publication in AAEM's official journal.
Dr. Roberge is Vice Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine
at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital, and a Clinical Associate Professor
of Emergency Medicine at the affiliated Emergency Medicine residency program
at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, both in Pittsburgh,
PA. He has been a fellow and full voting member of AAEM since 1995 and
currently serves as chair of AAEM's membership committee.
Dr. Roberge views this to be a critical time in the relationship between
AAEM and JEM, and the availability of a second Associate Editor
position for AAEM as an important milestone. In his letter of application,
he said, "This will not be a position directed solely at evaluation
of articles submitted to JEM by authors, but, rather, a platform
of sorts for the distribution, dissemination, and discussion of ideas
and concepts which impact our specialty and define our organization's
goals."
Dr. Roberge was selected from a pool of 22 very qualified applicants.
"We want to thank everyone who applied for the position," AAEM
president Robert McNamara, MD FAAEM, said. "The number and quality
of the applicants is a true sign of our continued growth and impact on
the specialty. Any one of them would have made a fine selection, and we
wish to encourage them to continue their participation in AAEM activities."
AAEM members are encouraged to submit material, both scientific and non-scientific,
for publication in JEM. Submissions for review by our associate
editors can be sent to AAEM, 555 East Wells Street, Suite 1100, Milwaukee, WI 53202-3823,
Fax: (414) 276-3349, Email: info@aaem.org.
