Introduction to the Conference
We invite you to attend the fourth Inter-American Emergency Medicine Conference being held in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The conference brings together educators, researchers and leaders of unparalleled excellence from throughout the Americas, and the world. The conference will include three days of lectures by internationally recognized experts in the field, as well as workshops that will gather emergency practitioners from all over Latin America. Culturally, Buenos Aires is second to none as a place of art and sophistication. There's sure to be an abundance of excitement in this truly cosmopolitan city - from opera to tango, great art and incredible food - its all there, and much more.

The conference is held in both Spanish and English, with remote simultaneous translation, and is a collaboration between the leading professional groups the Argentine Society of Emergency Medicine (SAE) and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM). The Inter-American Emergency Medicine Conference will provide the most cutting edge information for your practice, and promote the specialty of Emergency Medicine in the Latin American region by building intellectual capacity and fostering cooperative initiatives.

Who Should Attend
This activity is designed for practicing emergency medicine physicians from the United States and Latin America seeking didactic education in topics related to emergency medicine. Our audience will also include physicians who are seeking the opportunity for international exchange of information. This exchange pertains to the advancement of international emergency medical services and education in the world in general, and in the United States and Latin America in particular.

Important Dates

Call for Abstracts

Deadline
The deadline for submitting abstracts is 1 March 2012. The abstracts must be submitted in final form on or before the deadline of 1 March to be reviewed and accepted for IAEMC.

Eligibility
All interested in research are eligible to submit abstracts. The Research Forum will consider for acceptance abstracts that have been previously presented at other national, regional, and international scientific meetings. Submitting an abstract does not register you for IAEMC; you must register for IAEMC.

Submission Instructions
IAEMC organizers expect that all abstracts selected for presentation will be presented by the authors and that submitted abstracts will not be withdrawn. Please do not submit an abstract if you are not able to travel to IAEMC. The abstract must include the name and email address of the primary author, names and email addresses of all secondary authors, background, method, results and conclusions. There is a 600 word limit. Basic tables and charts may be included. All abstracts must be completed in Word and submitted by email to: mblackman@aaem.org

Review Process and Scoring Criteria
Abstracts will be peer-reviewed.

Notification
Authors will be notified if their abstract has been selected, along with a schedule for presentation. Notification regarding acceptance or rejection of abstracts will be made by 1 April 2012. Further details regarding placement as an oral or poster presentation, as well as date of presentation will follow as soon as possible. Poster Sessions
The dimensions of posters should not exceed 182.5 cm/72 inches in height and 91.5 cm/36 inches in width. Authors of accepted posters will be informed about exhibition date and discussion method.

NOTE TO ALL SUBMITTERS: POSTER DIMENSIONS ARE GREATER IN HEIGHT THAN IN WIDTH. PLEASE PREPARE YOUR POSTER ACCORDINGLY.
