Columbia/HCA Acquires Four London Hospitals

One day after announcing a $745 million partial settlement of a Medicare fraud investigation, Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corp. said it has acquired four London hospitals for about $110 million. It did so by purchasing the 50% interest of its joint venture partner PPP Healthcare Ltd. The four hospitals-the Harley Street Clinic, Princess Grace Hospital, Portland Hospital for Women and Children, and the Wellington Hospital-have a total of 599 licensed beds.
