AHA & ILCOR Seeking Public Comment on Scientific Evidence Evaluation Questions

The AHA is currently helping the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) finalize systematic evidence evaluations for CPR and emergency cardiovascular care. This is in preparation for the Consensus on Science Conference (C2015), which will be held in Dallas beginning next Saturday, January 31, through Thursday, February 5.

ILCOR is using an online public commenting process with the objective of providing transparent and rigorous treatment recommendations based on high-quality systematic evidence reviews. The AHA, in collaboration with ILCOR, is seeking public comment about scientific evidence evaluation questions that will be used to develop the 2015 guidelines.

Over 80 clinical and education questions and draft recommendations on a variety of resuscitation topics are now posted for review on ILCOR's Scientific Evidence Evaluation and Review System at ILCOR.org/SEERS. More will be posted in the coming days. Public comments will be accepted through February 28th; comments submitted by January 28th may be incorporated into the discussions at C2015.

Each question posted focuses on a specific resuscitation topic and includes scientific evidence from relevant, peer-reviewed journals. These questions are addressed by one of ILCOR's 7 task forces:

  • Advanced Life Support Task Force
  • Basic Life Support Task Force
  • Pediatric Resuscitation Task Force
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Task Force
  • Education, Implementation and Teams Task Force
  • Acute Coronary Syndrome Task Force
  • First Aid Task Force

ILCOR's Consensus on Science with Treatment Recommendations (CoSTR) is scheduled for online publication in the journal Circulation on October 15, 2015. Based in part on CoSTR, the 2015 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC will also be published on the same date.

As a stakeholder in resuscitation care, the AHA encourages you and your peers and/or customers to visit ILCOR.org/SEERS and to participate in the CoSTR public comment process.

Stay tuned for much more information as we move toward the release of the 2015 AHA Guidelines later this year!
