AAAEM Members Make 1,000+ Donations to AAEM PAC

AAEM members have shown their true support of AAEM PAC, the political action committee of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine, by making more than 1,000 individual donations to the fund, representing more than $63,000 in voluntary contributions.

"The support of the membership has been outstanding," said AAEM PAC Chair Tom Scaletta, MD FAAEM. "We have already used a portion of these funds to support a number of U.S. representatives and senators friendly to AAEM's mission. These donations have allowed us greater access to these legislators and have paved the way for the consideration of AAEM-sponsored language in a number of health care related bills."

Specifically, Representative Charlie Norwood (R-GA) is currently reviewing language submitted by AAEM for his Access to Quality Care Act (H.R. 216), requiring hospitals and practice management companies to provide upon request a specific itemization of the current compensation paid to and charged on behalf of their health care professionals.
