Course Description

This course is designed to provide the experienced emergency physician with an evidence-based review course for all of the required readings for the 2016 LLSA Review. Course content will be discussed both via PowerPoint® and through small group discussion on key topics for each mandated journal article.

Learning Objectives

This course is designed for the experienced emergency physician who is required to pass the ABEM 2016 LLSA exam. At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Discuss current literature on Infections related to the 2016 LLSA readings.
  2. Review key principles in hemostatic disorders, liver disease and anticoagulants
  3. Identify key principals of physician orders for life-sustaining treatment and emergency medicine.
  4. Discuss procedural sedation and analgesia related to the 2016 LLSA readings.
  5. Review small bowel obstruction in the ED setting.
